Malaysian Driftwood
Malaysian driftwood is one of the classics. A dark wood with strong lines it varies in colour from medium to dark brown and often features cracks in which epiphyte plants or mosses can be wedged in place.
It can be quite dense so it often doesn't require much help to stay submerged, it will release tannins into the water column which will stain the water a tea colour for the first few weeks. If this is not the look you are going for then it can be remedied by pre-soaking pieces, performing large water changes and with the use of chemical filtration media such as Seachem Purigen.
We recommend pre-soaking your pieces at least for a few days and changing the water at least once to help remove any excess organics and tannins prior to using in your layout. This will also help the wood become waterlogged and stay submerged.
